Donations

VM Tarm a/s donates part of its profit on an ongoing basis to various charitable causes. The donations are distributed among different areas such as development projects, emergency aid, environment, climate, local communities, and health.

We have been supporting Women Workers’ Training Centre in Nagalapuram, India, for a long time. Here, young women are taught about reproductive health, women's rights, waste management, and more. Additionally, nurses are trained, and eye examinations and surgeries are offered.

We continuously collaborate with local institutions and associations to combat young people's use of smoke and nicotine products. For example, we support campaigns against nicotine consumption and offer to pay for nicotine replacement.

We are sponsors of Herning KFUM Football, a football club that focuses on inclusivity. The motto is ”Here we play together”, and the focus is to ensure that everyone feels welcome. We are also sponsors of the football club in Tarm and the handball club in Tarm, as well as a number of sports halls in the surrounding area.

Additionally, we sponsor Skjern GF Football.

We support Ukraine's armed forces.
Ukraine's fight for freedom is also a fight for Europe's future. However, the economic support from European governments to Ukraine is unfortunately too low. Therefore, as a private company, we have made several contributions to The Danish Ukraine Committee. The money is channelled further to weapons and security equipment for the Ukrainian soldiers.

We are continually collaborating with Tarm Skole to get children to cycle more.

We support Doctors Without Borders and their work to provide emergency medical assistance to people threatened by disasters, conflicts, and epidemics, or who do not have access to healthcare.

We do something for the climate

Tankers and sustainability

Almost 100% CO2-neutral production

Our district heating is produced from solar and biomass. By purchasing so-called green certificates, we ensure that electricity and gas are produced from renewable energy sources equivalent to the company's total electricity and gas consumption. Our production is therefore almost 100% CO2-neutral.

Green transportation

Our forklifts and several of our cars are electric. In addition, our employees receive a financial bonus if they cycle or walk to work instead of driving.

Energy optimisation

Work is continuously ongoing to reduce energy consumption.

For example, 90% of the heat in the air from the extraction in the production halls is reused, and we use LED lights throughout the factory.

Waste recycling

At VM Tarm a/s, we make a significant effort to sort waste and by-products, and continuously consult with experts about the possibility of sending even more waste fractions for recycling. Our preliminary goal is to completely avoid sending waste to landfill, which we have almost succeeded in. A large portion of our metal scrap is taken by the Technical School and is thus used for training.

Waste reduction

We strive to reduce our waste volumes. We have thus eliminated all disposable products, and we have replaced physical manuals with digital ones, which saves the environment from many thousands of pages of paper each year.

Additionally, we ask our suppliers to use a minimum of packaging.

Weight optimisation

We started working intensively on weight optimisation years ago, particularly in connection with the Tank Trailer of the Future project, which the Danish Environmental Protection Agency supported.

Today, we produce the lightest tankers on the market. This helps VM Tarm a/s assist the transportation industry in reducing their diesel consumption and the associated CO2 emissions.

Customised is sustainable

We create customised solutions that are tailored to the customer's specific working conditions. This makes the work more efficient and avoids waste of resources.

Additionally, it prevents spending resources on producing functions that are not used.

Stainless steel – a sustainable material

The majority of our tanks, undercarriages, and components are made from stainless/acid-resistant steel. It is a sustainable choice.

If stainless steel is treated properly, it can, in principle, last forever. Stainless scrap can also be 100% recycled, and its quality is maintained during recycling.

Repair and maintenance

A large and increasing part of our business is repair and service.

This fits into a future where we need to pay more attention to resources.

If it is possible to repair a damaged tanker instead of discarding it, we always recommend this.
