Our history

1948:

The Danish Dairy Machinery Factory in Kolding deploys Bernhard Lauritsen in Tarm to service West Jutland dairies.

1962:

Bernhard Lauritsen has gradually built up a good reputation among the dairies and wants to be independent.

He therefore establishes the company Vestjysk Mejeriservice under his own management, which can negotiate and install dairy machines from De Danske Mejeriers Maskinfabrik.

As the milk transport from farmers to dairies shifts from tractor trailers with milk buckets to new milk tankers, repairs and maintenance of these vehicles begin.

1978:

The first milk tanker of our own design is built and delivered to the Dairy Company Denmark – now Arla Foods. Several deliveries follow quickly after.

1980:

First generational transition occurs. Bernhard Lauritsen sells Vestjysk Mejeriservice to the next generation in the family. Knud Lauritsen is appointed as CEO.

1981:

The first export order is placed. It concerns three combinations that are to be used to transport surplus milk from Southwestern Norway to the Oslo area.

1984:

The production of milk tankers is growing rapidly, and therefore the dairy service activity is divested. The name is simultaneously changed to VM Tarm a/s, which is formed based on the words West Jutland Dairy Service.

1988:

The product range expands. Tank trailers made of stainless steel for the transport of hazardous goods, fats, liquid waste, beer, etc. are now also being built.

1995:

VM Tarm a/s purchases the Grindsted company Dansk Tankvogns Produktion a/s, which builds feed tankers in aluminium. This activity is moved shortly thereafter to Tarm and merged with the other production here.

1997:

As a consequence of the developments in Danish agriculture with new regulatory requirements for liquid manure handling, the development and production of liquid manure tankers begins.

2015:

Second generation shift occurs. Holger Ross Lauritsen becomes the majority shareholder and managing director. There is a deliberate and massive focus on high quality, a high level of service, and long-term customer relationships.

2015-2023:

VM Tarm a/s is in strong development. Neighboring plots are being purchased, investments are being made in new technology, and a number of new production halls are being built for both new constructions and service/repairs. Sustainability and health are made a central part of the company's strategy.
